Alternative Medicine Vs. Conventional Medicine

Conventional Medicine:

Our current medical “industry” subscribes to us getting a disease, becoming sick, going to a doctor, getting Diagnosed, taking our prescribed medication and if deemed necessary have an operation. Conventional treatments of a disease are simply a Band-Aid. We as a society have bought hook line and sinker into conventional wisdom that a medical doctor is the last word, they know what is best for us, and they are concerned about our best interest. There are doctors who are genuinely involved in your best interest but they are few. Prescription drugs are made man poisons that habitually addict us to there use. Furthermore, prescription drugs prevent our bodies from functioning properly. Side effects from pharmaceutical drugs are devastating, debilitating, and sometimes deadly. Approximately 180,000 Americans die {killed} in hospitals every year by some doctors. Many of these deaths happen because drugs were prescribed because a lack of understanding of specific patient needs. They were killed because it is so easy and personally lucrative for doctors to prescribe, prescribe, and prescribe!

Alternative Medicine:

Alternative medicine is nothing new in fact it is as old as mankind. In fact it originated with our very existence on this earth. That’s right God gave us all we need to be healthy in all earth’s resources and in our very own immune system in our gloriously designed bodies. In some cultures alternative medicine is not only practiced but also deeply imbedded in generations of respectability. Western medicine reacts with much disdain against the use of “natural methods” to improve and sustain good health. Furthermore there is an exhorted effort by “big drugs” to shut the door on the natural supplement industry. With that said alternative medicine is now growing in popularity thanks to many bold natural nutritionists, holistic practitioners and the like. People are being educated through the web and by authors who are speaking out loud and clear. It has become clear that living a vibrant healthy lifestyle with good nutritious food, clean water, plenty of sunshine, and pure natural supplements will go a long way in keeping you healthy for a long time. If you get sick get more then one diagnosis and seek all natural supplements to heal your body.

In Conclusion:

Conventional medicine certainly has its place in our society and without it we would be for the worse, but it is not there to cure any disease. Trust in your body to cure itself given the necessary ingredients. Build up your immune system so you won’t get sick. Concentrate on staying healthy. Think intelligently before taking ANY made man drug, think about what you’re putting into your body. Don’t let some self-serving doctor decide what is best for you, your better, then that. Lastly, indulge yourself in nutritious foods and find a reputable natural supplement company and begin a program that will ensure that your body {immune system} is working optimally.

Alternative Medicine is not a Magic Potion for Seniors!

Alternative Medicine is one side of an intense love/hate relationship for many seniors. What makes this statement fact is a recent federal survey that reveals that more than 34 percent of all U.S. adults routinely use it.

What about children you ask. Approximately 12 percent of them avail themselves of it, of which nutritional supplements play a large role. But what is this form of medicine?

Simply put, alternative medicine is any method of treatment for the relief, or cure, of any disease or malady that is not either approved, or recommended, by established medical practitioners and their professional organizations.

The survey included more than 32,000 Americans and was conducted in 2007. One of the findings was very revealing. Since the last survey was taken five years earlier, the use of many types of this form of treatment had neither increased, or decreased, during the ensuing five year span.

These numbers tell us that each year, millions of people are putting their trust in the regular use of complementary alternative medicine. The percentage of those doing so hadn’t changed noticeably.

Does this mean that all seniors in the United States should begin immediately putting their trust in nutritional supplements, accupuncture, “probiotics” such as fish oil and a host of other natural treatments than we can’t find in our local pharmacy?

No! What seniors should do is set out on a path of finding out what complementary medicine can do for them as individuals. Emphasis is placed on the word complementary. By no means should seniors stop their regular usage of medicine prescribed by their personal physicians.

The most serious problem that exists with alternative medicine is the lack of scientific testing and verification of many of the claims put forth by practitioners in the field.

All of us look for hope, and as we age, our bodies gradually reflect the wear and tear of living our lives.

There exists no magic potion that will return us to the vitality and appearance of youth we once had. Alternative medicine is no mystical wand employed by a great wizard that can cure us of all maladies, including aging.

But it can do some very interesting things to us both physically and mentally. Before seeking so called “natural cures,” educate yourself! If you have access to a computer, you can do this without even leaving the comfort of your own home.

This is why this treatment brings out a love/hate situation in most seniors. While everyone would love to feel better physically and suffer less pain, they hate the very thought of having to plow through the myriads of treatments that make up the subject to pinpoint the ones that could help them.

The following are several easy steps to follow that will yield remarkable results for your search.

1.Look up your malady or particular pain on the internet. Don’t look for the treatment, simply identify the problem as it affects you personally.

2.Now seek personal experiences on the web that identify others suffering from your identical problem.

3.Make a list of the medicinal treatments that helped others.

4.Now look up the specific treatments and learn about them intimately.

5.This is very important! Before you begin using any type of medicine, consult your physician. Some medications prescribed by your doctor often react to other things. Play it safe!

The amazing thing about many new medicines put on the market by major pharmaceutical houses regularly, is that they originated in nature, and were first manufactured by green plants.

Don’t rule out all alternative medicine as just fairy tales and smoke. Take the time to investigate them for yourself. After all…there may be remnants of the Garden of Eden still left somewhere in the world. You wouldn’t want to miss that for lack of knowing its location.

Alternative Therapies Do They Work?

I don’t understand the medical communities dismissal of alternative therapies.  After all, many of these treatments have been around for hundreds or even thousands of years.  It seems arrogant and short sighted to throw away that kind of experience.

There are doctors who say that there is no proof that these alternative treatments work.  But can we believe that?  After all, who is performing these tests?  More often than not it’s the pharmaceutical companies that are running these ‘studies’.

You have to ask yourself if they would even publish findings that supported the effectiveness of a drug that they didn’t own the rights to manufacture.

With the recent slew of drug recalls, drugs that were originally approved by the FDA, more people seem to be looking for more natural relief, and prevention of illnesses.

The greed of the pharmaceutical companies has even gotten so bad that they are trying to lobby Congress to pass a law requiring prescriptions for all medications, including over the counter, and vitamins.

Can you imagine having to go to your doctor to get a prescription to pick up some One A Day vitamins?

The good news is this negative view of alternative treatments is starting to shift.  More and more doctors are starting to recognize the value of a multi pronged system to treat their patients.  They are more willing to incorporate natural cures as well as spiritual aspects into their treatment plans.

But again the question is, do alternative treatments  work?  The answer is, yes, they do.  And often with far fewer side effects than their man made counterparts.

Now I’m not suggesting that you shouldn’t consult a medical professional if you  are ill, particularly if you have a serious illness.  But I do think it’s wise to keep an open mind and strongly encourage your doctor to seriously consider other forms of treatments, more holistic approaches.

Many people are fearful of making their doctor mad, or offending them, and they don’t speak up and ask questions.  The thing you need to remember is that a doctor, no matter how much you like or trust them, is still only human.  They can be set in their ways, and yes, they can even be wrong.

Don’t be intimidated to talk to your doctor about alternative therapies for the treatment and prevention of illness.  After all, he works for you, not the other way around. And your health is far more important than protecting your doctors ego.
